My career began as a Lecturer at the Kenya School of Government, where I taught Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation courses. Later, I joined a Horticultural Cooperative Union as the Chief Accountant and eventually advanced to the role of CEO, overseeing all accounting functions, preparing financial statements, and advising the Board. As CEO, I managed production, marketing, and sales operations, both locally and internationally, and handled HR matters in compliance with regulations.
In 1979, I founded MBAYA & ASSOCIATES, CPAs of Kenya, where I served as Managing Partner until 2019. The firm provided comprehensive services in accounting, auditing, taxation, and business advisory. Throughout my career, I have held director and chairman positions in various limited liability companies and currently chair Mekan (E.A) Limited and Cheps Investments Limited.
My professional journey has taken me across several African countries for audit and consultancy assignments, providing invaluable international exposure. Additionally, I have traveled extensively to countries including Argentina, Peru, the USA, Europe, Turkey, India, and the Middle East, broadening my perspective on global business practices.
After retiring from MBAYA & ASSOCIATES, I remain active in advisory and consultancy roles. I am honored to serve in DODFI and am excited to share my experience with young professionals and mentor future generations. Contributing to the growth and development of the accounting profession is my duty and privilege, and I am committed to making a positive impact through my involvement with DODFI.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I engage in farming activities such as tea cultivation, horticulture, and dairy cattle farming.
