Executive Summary:
The Sustainable Pastoral Livelihood Development Plan aims to support communities like the Masai’s, Samburu’s, Turkana’s and others living in the semi-arid areas of Kenya. The plan focuses on promoting economically sustainable practices that protect the environment and ensure coexistence with wildlife. By investing in pasture development, community empowerment, and conservation initiatives, the plan aims to enhance the livelihoods of the communities while safeguarding the natural resources and biodiversity of the region. This Program will initially be implemented through the establishment and execution of 5-Project Areas.

Objectives:
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current pasture conditions and identify areas for improvement.

- Facilitate the development of transparent and accountable governance structures to ensure the equitable distribution of resources and benefits.
- Develop and implement programs to promote sustainable wildlife management, including community-led wildlife conservancies and ecotourism initiatives.
- Facilitate community engagement in wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching efforts, and habitat restoration activities.
- Raise awareness and provide training on human-wildlife conflict mitigation strategies to promote peaceful coexistence between communities and wildlife.
Implementation and Monitoring:
- Establish a dedicated project management team to oversee the implementation of the plan and ensure coordination among stakeholders.
- Develop an annual work plan with specific targets, activities, and budget allocations.
- Regularly monitor and evaluate the progress of the plan against predefined indicators, and make necessary adjustments based on feedback and lessons learned.
- Foster partnerships and collaboration with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private sector entities to leverage resources and expertise.
Financial Sustainability:
- Seek funding from diverse sources, including government grants, international development agencies, philanthropic organizations, and private sector partnerships.
